Shazzy's Bolognaise Sauce

When I make this I usually get enough for 4 meals feeding 2 adults and a 3yo (3 lots go in the freezer)

1 jar tomato passata
500g lean minced beef
1 small onion
1 garlic clove or 1 teaspoon of minced garlic
about a teaspoon of mixed Italian herbs
1/2 tub tomato paste
2 tbsp chicken stock powder
Salt and pepper to taste

  1. Spray the bottom of a non-stick pan with oil.
  2. Sauté the onion and garlic.
  3. Add the meat and cook for 5 minutes until brown sauce pan containing the meat.
  4. Add the herbs, salt, pepper and stock powder and let simmer for a few minutes.
  5. Add the passata, tomato paste and some water and simmer for at least 1 hour (I usually cook it for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, adding water as it cooks so it doesn't get too dry.)
